濕地是有水、有土壤、有水生植物的環境;
具有調節洪鋒水位的功能,藉而降低淹水災害;

【 Sponge Family | What Is a Wetland?】
The Ramsar Convention on Wetlands (1971) produced an international,
intergovernmental treaty which defined wetlands as “…areas of marsh, fen,
peatland or water, whether natural or artificial, permanent or temporary, with water
that is static or flowing, fresh, brackish or salt, including areas of marine water the
depth of which at low tide does not exceed six meters” (Ramsar Convention Bureau,
2001).
Wetland is an environment with water, soil and aquatic plants.
Sunlight brings energy, and life is born through the photosynthesis of plants, and
forming a rich wetland ecology .
Wetlands are areas with both land and water environments, such as mangroves,
swamps, rivers, lakes, rice fields and interstitial areas, are all wetlands.
Why Are Wetlands Important?
Wetlands play the role of "gene library of life in water", giving birth to many animals
and plants.
Wetlands are like the kidneys of the earth, they can preserve nutrients in water, filter
out chemical pollutants, and accumulate suspended substances.
#Classroom of Nature #Leisure Education
In addition to providing ecological viewing, hiking and other recreational activities,
watlands are also an excellent field for nature teaching!
#Sponge in the City #Regulation of Water Level
Wetlands provide a wide range of water storage.
When surface water is too much, wetlands allow enough time for the water to divert
and infiltrate into the ground,
Wetlands absorb surface runoff, and store floodwater, which has the function of
Regulating the water level of the flood front, thereby reducing flooding disasters.
When the earth is dehydrated, wetlands that absorb a lot of water can release all
that water, and contributes to the regulation of resources and air humidity.
📣Wetlands have so many functions , having great value in maintaining the quality
of our living environment!
What Is a Sponge City?
Sponge city refers to a city that has the ability to absorb and store water like a
sponge, and it makes the urban environment adaptable to drought and flood
disasters under climate change.
At the same time, sponge city has the function of ecological environment protection.
The establishment of sponge city includes water conservancy, environmental
engineering, urban planning and design, disaster prevention, landscape,
and the integration of multi-faceted and interdisciplinary knowledge.
Wetlands are like sponges in animations, and It can help the city to strengthen the
ability of water absorption and drainage.
Wetlands also have various functions of ecological conservation, purification of water
quality, and adjustment of urban climate.
Wetlands are an integral part of the sponge city concept!
Vision Union and Wetland management
Vision Union has a lot of experience in promoting wetland environment education.
Such as Shezidao Wetland, New Taipei City Dahan River artificial wetlands, etc.
In particular, the Dahan River artificial wetlands in New Taipei City contain eight
wetland groups.
In the future, we will introduce it to you individually.
Welcome to visit the Dahan River Wetland Tourism Center and wetland groups when
you have time!
