【Sponge Family | Daniaopi Constructed Wetland 】
:"Click– click– click– Here is back to place to hunt birds!"
Do you know the origin of the name of #Daniaopi?
There is a saying that in the early years, the area was full of ponds and wild birds gathered,
making it a good place for bird hunters!
However, in the process of urban development, this river bank with rich ecology once
became a landfill mountain that all kinds of creatures avoided. After a series of wetland
restoration work in the past 20 years, the beautiful scene of birds gathering in the past has
finally been reverted.
Daniaopi constructed wetland mainly treats urban sewage from Daan Aqueduct.
The overall site has 13 hectares, of which 9.3 hectares are water areas.
After being precipitated and fully reacted with oxygen, the sewage enters the densely
planted area and ecological pool, and through the decomposition and absorption of
microorganisms and aquatic plants, it can be transformed into clear living water in about 4
days!
The current Daniaopi Constructed Wetland has created a diverse environment such as land
islands, deep pools, and shoals.
In addition to attracting many birds and creatures to inhabit, it has also become a attraction
"Bird shooting*" for bird watchers.
When you have a chance to come here, bring your camera, let's look for traces of birds in
the wetlands together!
(*"Bird shooting" is a conventional term for photographers, which means taking pictures of
birds with a telephoto lens at a great distance.)

✨Wetland Classroom - Water Purification Function of Wetlands✨
Wetlands are like a natural filter due to water, soil, plants and other elements, making it with
the function of water purification!
At the same time, a rich ecology has been created due to the interaction between plants and
animals.
Water purification in wetlands involves physical, chemical, and biological processes, and the
physical process is mainly completed through the interaction between plants and water flow.
Plants block the water flow, slow down the water flow rate, and promote the precipitation of
suspended solid pollutants, or partially absorbed by plants to aid in the removal of
suspended solids.
The open waters of wetlands increase the chance of surface water reacting with oxygen in
the air.
The aquatic plants carefully planted have the ability to transport oxygen to the root and soil,
promote various chemical reactions and plant photosynthesis, gradually adsorb, decompose,
transform and absorb the pollutants dissolved in water. Eventually, the water will return to
clear.
Wetlands are called "kidneys of the earth" because of their water purification function.
However, the mechanism of natural purification has its limits.
Therefore, reducing the discharge of polluted water is the fundamental way to maintain a
good water environment!
